At the moment, we are all stuck at home in our collective struggle against COVID-19. In order to rise to this difficult challenge in a positive way, the Q-SORT community has mobilised in order to launch an online Wikipedia Edit-a-thon Extravaganza of scientific article writing. The objective is to broaden the scope and the number of articles in the free encyclopaedia.

In order to push back against the tyranny of fake news and sloppy information, Q-SORT actively supports initiatives that aim to improve online accessibility to scientific knowledge. By participating in this initiative you will be able to contribute personally, from your home, to this effort to make science more easily accessible to everyone.

The Edit-a-thon will place a special emphasis on science and especially Physics articles. It will not be limited only to Wikipedia – for instance participants will be able to upload images to Wikimedia Commons.

The Edit-a-thon will begin with a short introductory webinar, held on Zoom and Facebook Live by Wikipedian Alessandro Marchetti. By the end of it, participants will be able to start contributing to Wikipedia.

The webinar, which will last an hour and a half, will be held on:

Monday 30 March 2020, h16:00 CET
